Photo Every Day: April 25th - May 31st 2020 Day 1: I think I'm starting the photo a day for 100 days again. Here's the first photo from 4/24/2020. I love my new neighborhood. I genuinely think it's such a beautiful place. I've been looking through my photos from the first time I did this challenge and I've found it such a neat visual journal Day 2: Today wasn't as hot as yesterday - thank goodness. Recently all our rosebushes have been just exploding with roses! Day 3: I pulled this oak tree from one of the raised beds and put it in a starbucks cup with some dirt. Since then it's grown quite a lot on the windowsill I've been loving working on my garden and being outside, but today I decided to take a photo of this camera and some Christmas lights. They were just on the built-in getting beautifully illuminated so I thought why not. Day 5: Today was hot. I've been trying to keep all my plants alive and I harvested some greens & a green onion today. Here's the view from the backyard. Day 6: Clover was a bit of a headache today, but my goodness I still love her. Feeling a little bit down today, but hopefully tomorrow will be better Day 7: Clover somewhat destroyed our bed today, but I have some seedlings germinating and I have a half-day tomorrow so I can plant them out. Day 8: I had a half-day of work today and treated myself to some gardening Day 9: Today was filled with chores but I did get to transplant some plants in the garden and I saw a beautiful sunset. Now, perhaps a movie with my family. Had a nice nap and then went out for a walk around the neighborhood. We also decided to adopt a cat today, so there's that. I fell asleep on the couch with my dog after working from home for the day - I also managed to bake some sourdough today. Here's my second sunflower to bloom. Day 12: Today I disturbed two of the local stray cats - one trying to poop in the middle of my garden bed (this one is cute and little and I like it) and there was a scary looking one next to the creek. Day 13: Cleaned up the house after work to prepare for our new kitten. After that I didn't really want to have to take a photo so I focused on only one subject today. Hoping tomorrow I have a cute little critter as my photo. Day 14: Getting a new kitten really took it out of me - I did snap some photos, but I didn't crack the computer open to edit and post Day 15: The kitten wiped me out the past couple of days - I did take photos each day though. Here's the view through the window in my garage. Day 16: I was trapped in the bedroom with the kitten, keeping her alive and gradually introducing her to my cat and dog so here's the view from my bedroom window. Day 17: Look at this cute lil bug on my sweet alyssum. Missing my fiancés mom today - I feel like she could guide me a lot with gardening, but one of the reasons I really dove into the garden is because of how much I missed her. Day 18: It rained a lot today. I'm hoping my garden drinks it in! I was genuinely surprised after making dinner to find out it was only Monday Day 19: It's been beautifully stormy. I love seeing the clouds interact with the surrounding hills. Day 20: Today was rainy all day until just about sunset, then it was beautifully cloudy. This double-header sunflower is blooming!! Day 21: This was taken on the 14th. I took a couple days off of this project - Not sure why. I bet the rainy weather has something to do with it. I had a nice break & a nice weekend. Day 22: The new kitten and my older cat are starting to get along. And a stray cat (we call him Marcus) that had been gone for a while was in our backyard this afternoon. I missed him and was a little worried about him - he still runs away anytime we get too close. Anyway, here's a hummingbird in the rain. Day 23: I wasn't going to take a photo today. Sometimes I'm just a little lazy and the sun had already set. I took a shower and then thought, hey, I can do something with this. Day 24: Today I tried to propagate some roses after pruning some wild offshoots of my roses. I plugged a bunch of cuttings in the front yard so now I'll wait and see. This hangs on my wall and I noticed the light hitting it while I was sitting at my desk. Day 25: I just planted a ton of sunflowers. Wish them luck! My kitten makes working on my laptop very challenging. Day 26: On Thursday I started working on some watercolor illustrations for a children's book I'm working on, . Day 27: The aftermath of some of my illustration shenanigans. I've been taking Friday's off so this weekend is an extra long weekend. Day 28: I've been trying to get my rose cuttings to survive the hotter weather so I'm out in the evenings watering. There was a beautiful view this night. Day 29: We got some mulch dropped off by a tree company and my goodness, we covered the front lawn today in 90 degree weather and I'm so tired. These are some of the flowers I'm growing in the garden and now I've got to figure out what I'm planting in the front yard. Day 30: This is a zinnia growing in my garden bed - I hadn't ever grown them before but after reading Chasing Redbird again this winter, I was determined to grow some this spring. Day 31: This is one of the remnant plants from the previous owners. Suddenly they've popped out from their little corner of the garden and announced themselves in bright orange color. Day 32: It had been so hot this week until this weekend. Clover mostly stayed inside, like the rest of us, in the house, but she wasn't that happy about it. Day 33: My lentils have been ripening and drying slowly and I've been impatiently picking those that are ready and putting them into a jar. Day 34: These canna lilies are another remnant from the previous owners. They were in rough shape when we first moved in, but now they're fully recovered and putting out blooms Day 35: Our neighbors have two large oleander bushes that hang over onto our yard. I'm not really fond of them because of how toxic they are and I with they were a fruit tree (or really nearly any other plant) but they look pretty right now.
